Celebrating America! July 2023

Warren County Wanderings

“It will be celebrated with pomp and parade, bonfires and illuminations from one end of this continent to the other.” – John Adams (1735-1826) American Founding Father who served as the second president of the United States

We're not aware of any public bonfires this weekend, but Independence Day will be celebrated throughout the county in a number of ways, including fireworks in Blairstown and Washington! Both towns are hosting daylong celebrations; the cutie pictured above was photographed at Blairstown's celebration last year, and an all-American parade will march through Washington.

As we welcome the first full month of summer, this July issue is bursting at the seams! Shippen Manor’s Summer Concert Series features Cirotti & Company this weekend, and historic Rutherfurd Hall is offering monthly tours. The scent of lavender is in the air, so take advantage of the farms offering classes and lectures featuring this fragant herb. Centenary Stage Company’s Summerfest features musical theatre and concert events all month long, and odds are your favorite winery or brewery is offering live music to go along with your tasting.

Mark your calendars for the 85th Annual Warren County Farmers’ Fair, returning July 29 - August 5! Check out its website for this year’s details - perhaps enter a contest or buy advance tickets to a featured event - and if you go, be sure to check out the ‘Warren County and You’ County Commissioners Building to learn more about all the services this wonderful county offers!

Happy Fourth, and Happy Wanderings!
