"To say it was a beautiful day would not begin to explain it. It was that day when the end of summer intersects perfectly with the start of fall." – Ann Patchett, American author
This quote sums up our recent weather, with Hurricane Ida being a notable exception. We are in the open windows zone - neither A/C nor heat required - with a touch of chill in the air as we get out of bed in the morning. The weekend ahead looks splendid, weather-wise, and there is still plenty to do outdoors, so let's revel in it! The NJ Sunflower Trail at Von Thun Farms - previously slated to close after Labor Day - is still in bloom and open for visitors. Oktoberfest-themed events are kicking off, Belvidere Heritage Day (a reincarnation of Victorian Days) is this Saturday, and there is still plenty of outdoor, live music to enjoy, day and night.
Confession: the photo above was taken across the border in Hunterdon County (maybe less than mile away, as the crow flies, in Alexandria Township). Because it was one of those gorgeous days last weekend, and that's where Dexter the Dog lives. We should all have such joy and enthusiasm in our hearts! Happy September, and Happy Wanderings!
