heritage (noun) /ˈher·ə·t̬ɪdʒ/: features belonging to the culture of a particular society, such as traditions, languages, or buildings, which come from the past and are still important - Cambridge Dictionary
You guessed it, Wanderers, we have ourselves a “Heritage” theme this week! Some more obvious than others, such as Belvidere Heritage Day (a reincarnation of Victorian Days, celebrated in the town for many years); and Phillipsburg’s first Railroad Festival, commemorating 170 years since the railroad came to town. In conjunction, the Phillipsburg Railroad Historians museum will be open and operating the Centerville and Southwestern miniature railroad seen in the vintage photo above. A more nuanced nod to heritage is seed saving - so we can continue to perpetuate Heirloom tomatoes to our heart’s delight!
Warren County’s history museums will be open on Sunday, including Shippen Manor, which is hosting a book discussion with a local author. We could yammer on, but we want you to read the issue for yourselves and decide where and how you want to spend the coming week! Happy Heritage, and Happy Wanderings!
P.S. - If you decide to head to Garret D. Wall Park on Saturday, stop by the Explore Warren table to say hello - and enter for a chance to win a happy apple prize from Mackey's Orchard!
