The original Friday The 13th was filmed in northern Warren County, and whenever that date rolls around, Jason Voorhees roams the streets and alleys of downtown Blairstown in tribute to the 1980 cult slasher classic. Horror film fanatics from across the country flock to the area to tour the local filming locations, concluding their visit with a screening of the movie at Roy's Hall. Tickets now available online! The Canal Society of New Jersey offers a wide range of programming at Waterloo Village this year including the new Highlands Canal Boat Exhibit featuring the recently discovered remains of what may be the last Morris Canal Boat. Some of the historic buildings will be open, historic trades & crafts will be demonstrated, and there will be canal boat rides. Special events: the Skylands Dulcimer String Band presents its own unique blend of traditional, Celtic, old time, classical and modern music; Store keeper and village historian, Rick Giles, gives visitors an idea of what shopping was like in the 1860; and Miller Steve Lauf will be grinding grain and demonstrating the operation of a real water-powered gristmill.
