Warren County Wanderings

Starting November 4, 2021

“Architecture should speak of its time and place, but yearn for timelessness.” -  Frank Gehry, Canadian-born American architect and designer

The Georgian-style mansion pictured above is Shippen Manor, perched above the historic village of Oxford Furnace. Built as the iron master’s residence in c. 1754, this gem is one of 11 stops along the Explore Warren History Trail, a (free) self-guided driving tour of historic Warren County landmarks open for visitors this weekend. Start at any site, pick up your map and guide, and explore at your own pace a variety of timeless landmarks that each speaks of its own time and place in Warren County history!

Scroll down for complete details on this, and other, upcoming happenings. Happy November, and Happy Wanderings!

Coming Up

When young Lewis Diaz accidentally resurrects the soul of a brutally slain girl named Alice, he unwittingly unleashes a literal hell on Earth. Now it's up to Lewis and his newly undead companion to protect his classmates from becoming freshly slaughtered carcasses. Due to strong language, violence, horror, and adult themes, this production is intended for MATURE AUDIENCES. VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED.

Explore Shippen Manor, Blair's Town, Oxford Furnace, the Morris Canal and many more historic sites throughout Warren County. A total of 11 historic landmarks are stops on the self-guided, county-wide driving tour, where you can visit one or multiple sites at your own pace each day. The event is FREE and open to individuals and families of all ages. Printed trail maps are available at each location to start you on your history adventure. Each site will have a docent on hand to convey the history of the location; some sites will have demonstrations and festival activities. Interactive children’s activities are also planned at several locations. The event is rain or shine. Schedule details and a digital map are available at WarrenHistoryTrail.org.
