NOTE: Thursday's activities are canceled due to the weather. The festival resumes Friday! A four-day festival hosted by Warren County Community College features hot air balloon launches in the evenings at 6:30pm, and tethered rides as weather permits.

Apologies if the photo above creeps you out, but the Brood X Cicadas only appear every 17 years! These creatures have been underground since 2004, and can be seen - and heard - at Merrill Creek Reservoir right now (this picture was taken on June 1). Cicadas are beneficial insects that do not bite or sting. They prune trees, aerate the soil, are a food source for animals (including people!) and once they die, their bodies serve as an important source of nitrogen for growing trees. Please note the visitor's center is still closed to the public, but portable restrooms are available.
And Merrill Creek is just a hop, skip and a jump from the Hot Air Balloon Festival at Warren County Community College and the Strawberry Festival at Von Thun Farms. (Well, about seven miles or so.)

Take a 1.5-hour scenic trip on a historic passenger coach along the beautiful Delaware River to Riegelsville and return. Trips depart from Phillipsburg at 11am, 12:30pm, 2pm and 3:30pm.
Turn the clock back to a time when steam engines pulled passenger cars along idyllic miles of train tracks through quaint hamlets and farmland to an awaited destination. Board the train for a trip along the banks of the Delaware River to visit our winery.
