"Father's Day is hopefully a time when the culture says, 'This is our moment to look at how our men and boys are." - Michael Gurian, American author and social philosopher.
Searching for things to do with dad? Look no further than Wanderings for Father’s Day fun! Take him on a scenic train ride along the Delaware River with Delaware River Excursions, where dads ride for free all weekend; there’s a paddling adventure on Allamuchy Pond at Rutherfurd Hall; an all-you-can-eat Breakfast served by Mt. Lake Fire Company (dine in or takeout); and free admission at Land of Make Believe for dads accompanying a paying child on Father's Day.
And there’s no shortage of live music this weekend, including the first Shippen Manor Lawn Concert of the season! Free and held each Sunday evening through Labor Day weekend, the first act is The Lost Ramblers, a Bluegrass/Country band. Keep any eye on the wineries and breweries, too, for special features.
Don’t forget about the Farm Markets that are ratcheting up, including the opening of Washington Borough's market and its Sustainability Green Festival.
It's not too early to start thinking about the Warren County Farmers’ Fair, and word on the street is the Queen and Princess contests need applicants. You may know the right gal!
Last but not least, we extend a warm welcome to all of our new Wanderings subscribers we met at last weekend's ParkFest at Bread Lock Park! Happy Father's Day, and Happy Wanderings!
