Memorial Day Weekend and Beyond
"A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself."
- Joseph Campbell (1904-1987), professor and author
Memorial Day Weekend is considered the traditional start to the summer vacation season, but as you know, we are in anything but traditional times. So in a way, it makes us even more conscious of the sacrifices made by members of our military and others making sacrifices right now to keep us safe, as well as those who have made the ultimate sacrifice that we commemorate on this holiday. While most of the usual patriotic parades and ceremonies are canceled, take some time to - as it says at the Warren County War Memorial, pictured here - pause, reflect, and remember. Meanwhile county parks, state parks and the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area are available, with limitations. Restaurants and wineries and breweries are offering various degrees of takeout and delivery, campgrounds have reopened (read on for those details), and we've got some events, including online ones, in this e-newsletter. Happy Memorial Day and Happy Wanderings!
