Leap Into February 2024

Warren County Wanderings

"We don't always accurately predict six more weeks of winter, but when we do, everyone acts like it's our fault spring didn't come early." - Groundhogs everywhere

Welcome to the first Wanderings of 2024! February has a few pseudo holidays like Groundhog Day, Mardi Gras, Valentine's Day and Leap Day; plus Presidents Day (which is an actual holiday for many). We've gathered enough events to merit a special page for Valentine's Day (click here to see them), some starting the weekend prior and lasting throughout the month, so check out that link with your loved one!

The photo of the cute little groundhogs above is courtesy of Charlie Fineran. If you too are interested in fostering local fauna and flora, we encourage you to pursue certifying your own garden or communal space as a wildlife habitat to help Warren County become the first county to be certified as a Community Wildlife Habitat with the National Wildlife Federation.

Have you heard? Passport booklets are currently available at the nine participating Warren County Grains and Grapes Trail partners. Through April 30, with a minimum purchase at each of the establishments, you may get your passport stamped and earn a hoodie sweatshirt! It's a great way to explore Warren County while you're wandering around!

So Happy Goundhog/Super Bowl/Lincoln/Mardi Gras/Valentine/Washington/Leap Day, and Happy Wanderings!
